Visa Requirements

To be eligible to work at Berlitz, you must be registered with the Ministry of Education. To qualify, you should hold a 4-year degree and be able to supply a copy of both the degree and University transcript. As well as registration with MOE, a valid employment pass must be obtained. Berlitz will apply for the employment pass and MOE registration on your behalf. The costs for these permits are covered by the applicant. (approx. US $60). Once the employment pass has been approved, you must have a full medical screening. Upon satisfactory completion of the health screening, you can collect your employment pass from the Ministry of Manpower.

Hiring Procedure

Once we have received your application, we will schedule an interview. Interviews are held on weekdays between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. After successful completion of the interview process, you will be invited to attend the Berlitz Instructor Training Program which is the last stage of the hiring process. This training consists of 5-days (Monday ~ Friday; 9:00 am to 5:00 pm) and is free of charge.

Teaching Contracts

Berlitz Singapore offers new instructors part-time employment with a 3-month probationary period. Part-time employment is also available in the evenings. To be eligible for employment at Berlitz, you should be available to teach a minimum of 3-evenings (6:15 pm to 9:10 pm, preferably weeknights, Monday through Thursday) as well as Saturdays.

Getting Started

Our experience has shown that you will initially need to bring approximately US$1,500 - $2,000 with you to budget for acquiring an apartment or similar accommodation, day-to-day living expenses and miscellaneous expenses that can be incurred until your first pay period. It is also necessary to open a bank account which facilitates the transfer of monthly wages, payment of bills, etc.
