Total Immersion
Berlitz Total
Immersion® programs are scientifically proven to build language
fluency in a short amount of time through intensive individual
instruction, seven and a half hours a day for two to six weeks.
The focused study builds skills quickly for students to think
and speak in a new language.
For part of
each day, the Total Immersion student works simultaneously with
two instructors to experience three-way conversation. The
student handles rapid-fire question and answer drills from both
instructors to develop fluency and comprehension of native
speakers talking at a typical speed.
In order to
maintain the continuity and flow of instruction, lunch is
provided at the Berlitz Language Center Monday through Thursday,
affording an opportunity to continue practicing a new language
in a casual environment. After the "lunch lesson" the student
reviews the morning's material and works on reading and writing
exercises.
Fridays bring
a pleasant change of pace - both student and instructor head out
to lunch at a nearby restaurant to engage in "free" social
conversation in a relaxed atmosphere. This helps the student
build the self-confidence and linguistic security necessary to
achieve fluency.
Periodically
throughout the week, the student will engage in telephone
role-play to experience conversations without the benefit of
seeing the speaker.
Once the
basics are mastered, the Total Immersion® vocabulary is
customized to include specific business terminology and any
special requirements of the student.
Total
